The CRAFTINSURANCE SCHEME is specifically for Crafts People who manufacture / sell their product from home, studio, workshop or small craft unit or via craft shows, exhibitions, galleries etc.

You must be a resident in Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, Isle of Man or the Republic of Ireland.

Cover applies anywhere within Great Britain, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, Isle of Man and the Republic of Ireland. Cover also extends to include the other member countries of the European Community. We do not impose a limit on the number of shows etc.attended.

We can also include cover for DEMONSTRATIONS, TUTORING/TUITION & WORKSHOPS FOR TUTORING/TUITION specifically related to your craft if requested, at NO ADDITIONAL COST

Protection against your legal liability for bodily injury to third parties and damage to their propertycaused as a result of your negligence 

PRODUCTS SUPPLIED TO USA / CANADA.

If you knowingly supply / send products to these countries then it is necessary for you to advise us accordingly. The supply of products to USA / CANADA constitutes a material fact and should be advised to us. We reserve The right to exclude this cover dependent upon individual circumstances. .

COVER CAN BE OBTAINED BY COMPLETION AND SUBMISSION OF THE ON LINE APPLICATION (STATEMENT OF FACT) AND PAYMENT OF THE APPROPRIATE PREMIUM. No cover will commence until we have accepted the Statement of Fact and have verbally confirmed cover.  Payment can be made by credit/debit card via FREEPHONE  0800 919359 or 01202 826127, or 12 monthly payments by direct debit through your bank .   • Liability for loss of or damage to premises hired or rented to you for the purpose of your business
  • Legal costs and expenses in defending prosecutions under relevant health and safety legislation, Consumer Protection Act 1987 and Food Safety Act 1990
  • Court attendance costs

  • Cover for acts of terrorism is limited to £2,000,000 for any one event
  • Loss or damage to property in your custody of control or to products supplied
  • Liability arising out of products supplied in the knowledge that they could affect the navigation, propulsion or safety of any aircraft or other aerial device
  • Pollution or contamination
  • Work in or on or travel to or from or within products supplied to any offshore installation or support vessel
  • Liquidated damages, penalty clauses, fines or punitive damages

  • Legal costs and expenses in defending prosecutions under all relevant health and safety legislation
  • Worldwide cover for employees normally resident in the UK who are temporarily working overseas.

  • Liability in respect of liquidated damages, penalty clauses and fines
  • Work in or on or travel to or from any offshore installation or support vessel
  • Bodily injury to an Employee carried in or on, entering or alighting a vehicle or where Road Traffic Act legislation applies.

Accidental loss or damage to: 

  • Stock (anywhere in the UK, whilst in transit and overnight at shows etc.)
  • Automatic cover up to £250.00 for display stands, tables. Chairs and lighting whilst at shows etc.
  • Machinery and Equipment whilst at the insured’s premises/workshop.

Cover can be extended to include terrorism cover.

  • Wear and tear, gradual deterioration, faulty or defective design, materials or workmanship
  • Mechanical or electrical breakdown or derangement
  • From unattended vehicles if all doors and windows have not been locked
  • Damage resulting from undergoing any process involving the application of heat
  • Loss or damage caused by insufficiency or unsuitability of packaging or preparation of goods.
  • Damage to moveable property in the open by wind, rain, hail, sleet, snow, flood, dust
  • The first part of any claim (your excess).

 

Duration of policy

The policy will remain in force for 12 months from date of commencement, or as otherwise shown on your policy schedule.

Right of cancellation

If you are an individual/sole trader (including a partnership in England and Wales) buying a policy which provides cover for you in both a private and business capacity, you have the right to cancel your policy during a period of 14 days either from the day of purchase of the contract or the day on which you receive your policy documentation, whichever is the later. A full explanation of the cancellation rights can be found in the policy documentation.

Our service to you

We hope that you will be very happy with the service we provide. However, if for any reason you are unhappy with this, we would like to hear from you.

In the first instance, please contact your insurance adviser. Full details of our complaints procedure will be set out in your policy document.

We are covered by the Financial Ombudsman Service. If you have complained to us and we have been unable to resolve your complaint, you may then be entitled to refer it to this independent body. The Financial Ombudsman Service is available to individuals, certain small businesses, charities and trusts.

Financial Services Compensation Scheme

We are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). If we cannot meet our obligations you may be entitled to compensation from the scheme, depending on the type of insurance and circumstances of any claim.

Terms of Business

Non Disclosure:

It is your duty to disclose complete and accurate information for underwriting purposes. Failure to disclose all material facts to the Insurer or inaccuracies in your answers on the Statement of  Fact completed via our web site  www.craftinsurance.co.uk or printed  Proposal form for hand written  completion could invalidate your cover and also invalidate any claim made. Our mandate allows us to arrange insurances within the Uk and ROI  only.

Complaints Procedure

We care for our Clients. If you are unhappy in any way with your insurance policy or the way that it has been arranged, you can in the first instance contact Mr Ian W. Wallace in writing who will be pleased to assist. Your complaint will be formally acknowledged in writing within 48 hours together with our initial response. If your complaint is valid, we will endeavour to agree a mutually acceptable form of redress.

If you are still not satisfied and your complaint relates to the contract of insurance:

You may write to the General Manager of the insurance company concerned. The address can be found in the policy document, or is available from our office.

  1. If your insurer is a member of the Financial Ombudsman Service and your complaint is regarding a Non Commercial Policy you have the right to ask the Financial Ombudsman Service to review your case.   2. By making a complaint, you do not prejudice your rights to any legal proceedings. The parties to a contract of insurance covering a risk in the United Kingdom are permitted to choose the law applicable to the contract. English Law will govern your insurance.

Payment Terms and Charges

We are registered under the Consumer Credit Act and our license number is 121504. Our standard terms of business require FULL PAYMENT OF PREMIUM (UK Stirling or € Euro equivalent) before cover commences together with a fully completed proposal form.. PAYMENT CAN BE MADE BY A VALID DEBIT / CREDIT CARD or by cheque PAYABLE TO Ian W. Wallace Ltd. We do not accept cheques from the Republic of Ireland due to the high processing charges. Should instalment facilities be required (Excludes Republic of Ireland), we are able to offer these only via the insurance company who will also make a charge for this purpose. Full details are shown on the relevant direct debit mandate and are confirmed by Aviva Insurance Ltd

Premiums paid directly to us are held in a separate specific Statuory Trust account, whereby should we not be able to meet our obligations they are pretected and are treated as if the payment had been made direct to Aviva Insurance Ltd. Any interest accrued via this account is for the benefit of  Ian W Wallace Ltd.  No client is entitled to such interest or part therof.

Additional Premiums

All additional premiums are PRO RATA on a full month basis. We do not charge administration fees.

Refund Premiums

(Normally arise as a result of cancellation or reduction in risk.) All return premiums are PRO RATA and calculated on a full month basis. On a return of premium we repay commission on the amount to your Insurer and this will be deducted from the final amount refunded to you. Should a policy be cancelled within 3 months of inception, an administration charge of £15.00 (or € Euro equivalent) will be made and a further amount equal to the commission will be deducted.

Claims

Any incident which could result in a claim, must be notified to us in accordance with the policy wording. All information is passed to the Insurer with minmum delay.The Insurer has the right to contact the Client directly upon receipt of such information or instruct a claims assessor accordingly.

Professional Indemnity insurance is held by us in compliance with the FCA and will be maintained accordingly.
